Student Activities Council (SAC) presents the Phunky Phat Phun Phest Nov. 6 in the Regents Center from 7pm to 11pm. All activities are free with CAF or $5 without CAF.
As one of the largest SAC sponsored events, students can rock the night with great music and games in one of the biggest parties of the year. Phunky Phat Phun Phest is the place to be for a wild action-packed night. Student Activities Council has brought in a wide variety of games ranging from a 28 foot climbing wall to the 50 foot Velcro obstacle course and of course the famous bungee run. In addition to games, SAC Concerts has booked two award winning bands to add to the evening. The groovy tunes will be provided by Bobby Llama and Greazy Meal.
Bobby Llama, a group that got its start at St. Olaf, will be making a return visit to Luther. Ellis Bergeron, a female vocalist leads Bobby Llama with a diverse mixture of instruments that include alto sax, flugel horn, guitar, trumpet, & mandolin. The Minneapolis based group, Greazy Meal will be taking the stage following Bobby Llama.
With the release of the their third album, Greazy Meal is making a name for themselves. They have won eight Minnesota Music Awards including Best R&B group of the year. Present and past members have played with Prince, The Rembrants, New Power Generation, The Commodores, and Jesse Johnson. Their music has been classified as soul-funk-acid-jazz featuring R&B classics of the 70s and 80s.
With the combination of extreme games and great musical acts like Greazy Meal and Bobby Llama this promises to be a high energy, high impact even.
